White Desk with Hutch
Buying a white desk with hutch is easy, but it is possible to make the hutch yourself. By adding this feature to your desk, you will increase the storage space available.
Required Materials and Tools

Hammer

Plywood
2 x 4 planks
Pencil
Measuring tape
Step 1
Use the tape measure to get the desk width. Put an additional 3 inches to the measurement sides.
Step 2
Slice eight pieces of the 2 x 4 based on the width you obtained earlier (with the additional inches). If necessary, measure twice. You can cut a couple of inches larger than what is needed. You can always cut off the extra inches later on.
Step 3
The next step to making your white desk with hutch is to put the shelve frames together. In this example every frame has to have a couple of 36 inch planks (for the width) and a couple of 4 inch planks (these will be for the length).
Set the short planks between the longer ones three inches by each end. Make a hole in the longer planks so they can meet the shorter planks. Use screws to tighten them.
Step 4
Saw four 2 x 4 planks so they are 6 ft long. Mark the height of the first shelf. You can measure this by putting it on the desk frame. Next, set the planks on it and note the spot. Make a couple of holes in them until they come up to the frame.
Step 5
Take note of the height of the proceeding two shelves. Note their base frame as well. You can design the hutch so it matches with the size of your monitor or other peripherals. Make a couple of holes in the planks until they join up with the shelves.
Step 6
Cut three plywood strips so they can be set on the shelves. In this example that would be 36 x 36 inches. Slice the plywood and set them on the frames. Use nails to fasten the wood into place.
Step 7
Fasten them tight. Place the hutch over the desk. Or you can paint the hutch first.
After you make the white desk with hutch and paint it, wait for the paint to dry before using it. You can add as many coatings as you like. But the more you add, the longer it will take to dry. Be prepared to wait longer if you put on additional coats of paint.
